Safe Path in the Dark

(NOT THE FINAL PIECE) This animation was heavily inspired by Gollum, and Lord of the Rings. I had a lot of fun with camera movements, and staging so you feel threatened by this creepy character who is approaching someone lost in the cave. I studied ape movements, and people in Mo-Cap suits to get an idea of how this character should move and act. 

Not a Monster

Animated using Maya, rendered using Arnold, and composited in After Effects. My motivation behind this piece was to add lots of emotion, and give focus on the facial expressions. I added eye darts, breathing, and went through several lip sync passes. When color grading, I decided to give it a black and white effect, with film dirt and scratches with the intention of conveying a noir, unsettling feel. 

Spooky House

Animated using Maya, rendered using Arnold, composited using After Effects. This scene was meant to convey mystery, and a sense of discomfort. I slightly tilted the camera, and used mega scans to bring realism to the scene. 

A Peaceful Walk

Here, I experimented with combining a walk cycle, and run cycle together. I added both of these cycles into Studio Library, and combined them in a new Maya Scene. I wanted to give this personality, instead of making a vanilla walk to run. I studied cartoons, and mime acting to get a sense of where I could go with this. 

The Coolest Story

My goal for this piece was to try something fast, comedic, and cartoony. I experimented with smears, and made used motion blur to really push the speed of acting.

Sit Down

Animated Using Maya, Rendered Using Arnold.

Robot Arm

Animated and Rendered Using 3DS Max. Since this is a robot, I wanted to create something with personality, and life. I primarily did this by adding lots of dragging in the joints so that its movement feels much more organic.
